1:1 (BYOD & Laptop Program)
At the October 9, 2023 School Board meeting, the Board voted to allow the Technology Department to seek bids for Chromebooks to be purchased for the 2024-2025 School year 1:1 program.
Pending Board approval on the bids, all grades (5-8) at the middle school level will be provided a school-issued Chromebook for their day-to-day school work.
*This change in plans is due to a multitude of factors to maximize that range from changes to funding at a state level related to curricular related fees, preparation for testing software changes and frequency of testing(state mandated testing has proven nearly impossible in a BYOD environment) and network security and performance issues. Ultimately, the determining factor was based off the amazing results received from surveying teachers in the 5th and 6th grade unified device programs. Teachers have reported so many learning and classroom efficiencies that have been achieved with having everyone on the same device. The feedback we received from 8th grade teachers to move to a unified device was overwhelmingly positive when we presented the opportunity. We felt the classroom efficiencies and learning outcomes would do the most good for the most people.
