Federal Care Act and American Rescue Plan Allocations

The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act, delivering $350 billion to state, territorial, local, and Tribal governments across the country to support their response to and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency.

The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund was established to assist schools in navigating the COVID-19 crisis response. The amount of funding was based off of Title I school districts. Because ZCS is no longer a Title I school district and is the lowest funded district in the state based off of the “complexity” funding formula and a low free-and-reduced-lunch percentage, ZCS was initially locked out of this funding. Dr. Robison persisted in calling out the complete lack of funding via ESSER, receiving help from some local legislators in the process to ultimately receive ESSER dollars.

Below are details of our ESSER dollars received, spent, or planned to expend.

CARES:

ESSER I: $ 68,611.16 total allocation (expended as follows:)

ESSER III Funding Details:

Allocation $522,538.34

Zionsville Community Schools is utilizing our ESSER III funds to directly impact our students. Resources will be added to address learning loss and the social and emotional needs or our students as a result of COVID-19. The balance of monies will be used to purchase MERV rated filters for our HVAC system as suggested by ASHRAE guidance on combating COVID-19 along with other materials needed for enhanced cleaning protocols.
