Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

The Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Framework includes three essential elements: high quality instruction (academics and social emotional learning), assessment, and collaboration.

These three essential elements, embedded with culturally responsive practices and family engagement, and supported by leadership and team structures, interact within a multi-level system of support.

This framework is the practice of systematically providing differing levels of intensity of support based on student responsiveness to instruction and intervention in academics and social emotional learning.  All students are supported through this structure.  Within ZCS schools, the multi-level system of support is a three-tiered structure designed to maximize student achievement in the general education setting.
