I'm just going to share my screen so those of you that are online and have the ability to see it as well as their ego all right so does he don't know which I think I know everybody in here at Rams combine form of the digital learning coaches as Zionsville and we also Andy can even who is just added to our team this summer so we're super excited to have a third person I was just talking with a couple you had lunch that I no longer have five schools to support but now down to three which will allow all three must be in buildings more than having to jump all over the district to try to do that Carly is at the high school as well as credit union and then she will support Trailside when it opens next year what is at Zionsville West Stonegate and eagle and then I am at zms Boone Meadow and Pleasant View and however if you were to contact any of the three of us will be more than happy to help you out have a lot of of classroom knowledge as well as technology that we can share as well just to kind of get us started for today I started following this teacher on Tik-Tok and she this cracks me up you might have if you've been in one of my sessions are today you might have heard her this but this just kind of gets me set up to come back to school so we'll just I'm not sure if it'll play cuz I don't think that I did that for sharing my screen are those of you online but it's really worth them to listen to all except I need to go back and play it again so there's an she's got a lot of us you guys saw or did you see different what was the last one that she there so the list of names that you can no longer name your children are my favorite one so I can't remember what do you remember the last one but really one of the things it wouldn't start with today is is screen mirroring because as an instructional II it's it's real important to be able to take my iPad and project it on a devices around and so once we started getting all these iPad we started also getting a lot of request for okay so how can I do that and there's a lot of product out there and so as a district we can chat we can all we can't support them all so we found one that really worked and one of the ones that were using is called mirroring360 what is a life it's nothing that you actually put on your iPad on your laptop and it just works in the background all the time whenever you have it on and so to do that when you go to mirroring 360 cam you can create what they call a one-week free trial account and you just use your school email and then create a password I would use whatever your current password is and then it will download you download it onto you school computer anyone from the tech department or our team can help you with that if you have trouble with that once that week free trial is done when you try using it to say all your free trials is or would you like you don't purchase it you just create a help ticket and Janessa from technology department will purchase an activation code for you and that you'll put into your computer and then it's purchase for that device this is something that we will take care of the cost but the way that they set it up is you create your account first and try it out for a week and before you put a help desk ticket it's a nice way for you to hear what's going on in your classroom when you go to share your and those of you that are online sorry you're not going to see necessarily everything because you are online but when once you have downloaded that app in the background I'm going to go ahead and get out of this it's constantly working in the background so that when I turn my iPad on and if I pull down in the top right corner can I go to screen mirroring screen mirroring on it it's going to find my laptop and once you download it I'll show you how you can rename your laptop so on screen mirroring so it doesn't have like mine says ESC 39424 but I can put by 4 or by force laptop so it's easy to find you do need to make sure that your laptop and your iPad are on the same wireless network that's how it work so I should probably see what Wi-Fi I'm on UCS Wi-Fi one and sexiest wife and I may have some trouble with this because I'm using the clip share the same time so we will see change Wi-Fi baby Skillet the Jeopardy never good when it says no internet connection but I'll see if I can go to staff here well there it is so I had to change to Wi-Fi stack and now you can see right here it's everything that's on my my iPad is now being displayed on my projector or because I'm sharing my screen and in teams they're seeing as well to always use it sideways cuz it takes it more the screen so that it's easier for the kids to see it as well and so now I can anything that I do on my iPad is being projected for the class as well questions about that I said it's nothing that you download onto your iPad it's just met her downloading it on to your your computer you can lock up orientation you can download any educational apps onto your your laptop there's a lot that we've already pushed out that if you go through it as a little Cloud next to it you just hit the cloud and it'll download on there if there's an axe Pacific that you would like it it says get instead all you have to do is contact Carly Kyle or Andy and we can push that out to you except for if it costs money if there's a cost Associated to the app to go to your building administrator because you'll have to go to the treasury for them to pay for it because it's time to your school Apple ID which is your email address so if there's if there's a specific 599 app that's how you have to do it tonight if you want to do that if you're like I don't want to spend any money on app contact one of us and we'll try to find an app that's similar that's free that will do some things for you download apps login with your iPad with your school email address which is your Apple ID if this doesn't work we had some that once we started the moved over to the new Apple ID program some people use their school email create a personal Apple ID and last year you should have received an email that was you that said hey as easy as taking back their email so if it doesn't work with your email contact one of us if we can make sure it gets set up for you we talked about this how just click the cloud access to contact one of us and we can help you out with that and then I will send this PowerPoint to you but there's a link on the science website that shows you all of the apps that have been pushed out which kind of goes to, and we are talking about this if it's not free passed your building administrator the app ideas here's some of the ones that I would say if you want on your your iPad to use an instructional Coach canvas teacher what's really nice about the canvas teacher at is when students submit assignment you can go into the speed greater part of it and you can right on top of it and give feedback to your students you still have access to everything else it's not it's not the same as using it on the computer so it does have some limitations and looks a little bit different but as far as speed greater it's really nice will do that I just Siri is an app that allows you to record your iPad screen as your you're doing things so kind of fits like a screen recording for your iPad that you can upload to canvas or share with them as well so if there's something that you're doing on your screen like if you're using a whiteboard and you want to drink some examples to put those on there that app is free but you want to be have a screen mirroring would you don't need cuz we're using mirroring360 that are cost money a lot of our teachers and students are you saying it's a great way for that authentic audience and allowing students to give their have their student voice and sharing but that's something that you could have the kids utilize well or as you yourself so I would download flipgrid Google Chrome is probably the most important of all the because so many of the resources we use our Internet base and if I have Google Chrome then I can go to any website and utilize it and navigate through our online textbooks pull up my online textbook and now walking around the room I'm no longer tied to my desk but I can be walking around the room using the online textbook and showing them what I want them to be doing on their computers are Chromebooks if your entry and just kind of go through it that way so croman is definitely one that you want as long as you sign into Chrome on your computer and some for your bookmarks and things iPad the same thing will be there kahoot is another one that a lot of teachers use for printer review for Concepts that are being taught that teachers use YouTube obviously a lot instructional videos that are there that you can pull up right on your iPad and then share that with the class you're walking around the Microsoft once you're going to want to download a lot of those you're familiar with I'm office the whole shebang on your laptop still just saving to their computer or saving to their death stop if you save to OneDrive any document that you created on your computer you can pull up on your iPad and what's nice is if it's a Word document I can pull a Word document on and I can annotate right on it so is if it's a Word document the students have the word document right in front of them I can pull it up on my iPad and I can annotate right on top of it and I can have them follow along and we can have class discussions and I can be taking notes and it they're seeing it on the projector you can have the kids go around and add to it using their iPad pencil or pen whichever one you have but you want to make sure that you stay OneNote OneNote with your students before anybody loved one note what note is is another thing that you can pull right up take notes and annotate right on it's got a great inking feature that can use I know Andy use it extensive in 5th grade math science and cell that's one that if you're interested in OneNote let us know we'd be happy to help set it up with your class and show you how to use that power point if you got power you're using with your class now I can just pull it up on my my iPad and I can be going between slide and slide and I'm moving around the room I can annotate right on top of a slide and then when I'm done I can save those invitations to that PowerPoint they just erased all the invitations at the end I love using the annotate feature in a PowerPoint as well it's similar to Google translate I love it and he had a student from China years ago I Google Translate like you have used your camera you can hold it over a document and hold it over something cycle and IT department held steady where this one kid walks it in Pre pleasing almost like a two parts of the iPad so I can speak English and stay good morning Aaron how are you doing today and then it'll on the opposite side will read in whatever language you choose to them and they can respond in their native language and it writes it in English for me to read so when you're trying to go to the bathroom so it translates both the written as well as the Spoken Word document something password the same thing you can write on top of Word document you can highlight so especially if you're doing the editing purposes you can go through and you can have the students go around and pull up a student work together as a class kind of modeling that for your students yes so I'm going to do this slide and then we're just going to kind of get into play a little bit so here's just some examples of teachers using or iPads as we talked a little bit about you you can annotate the PDF Word document PowerPoint any document with an iPad I can pull up and and I'm using a pin or using my finger if that's all that I have available to me so I'm going to go ahead and share my it's just there and disappeared on me change Wi-Fi all right let me go back to my settings the bad thing about when you say remember this wi-fi so you change it doesn't like going back to her arrogance let's see if this is still paired I believe it has a battery I'm not going to mess with this right now I'm just drive and my thoughts baby so I can pull up any of the documents I have no more OneDrive Sibley East piles conference proposal here I have my word document on here that I can move around I could say okay when I open this up and work I want to give you lots of medication doing it this way all right I never had so much trouble okay so here's a Word document that I had that I I scanned a page from a workbook the kids had in there so now I have it on here I can go to the drawl tab right up there at the top I can pull on it on weekend I can zoom in maybe get rid of the keyboard I can then go ahead and draw I can Circle or let's go ahead and what we're doing in class I can annotate anywhere on here so he don't use the marker I said if I had a charge and so this would be much easier but go to that I can walk around the classroom at let the students then do an example right other textbook as well but I use a lot the camera a lot I think of and a lot of your classrooms I walk into him and you spell I'm with the kids developing anchor charts all over the classroom okay they can have access to those bother with you you can take a picture of those anchor charts with your iPad put it in a Word document or put it in a one-note class notebook put it on canvas now they have access to a 24/7 so a lot of hurt especially the elementary and middle school is welded where you got these anchor charts take photos with your iPad save it to your OneDrive and now you can put those anchor charts and anything that you're working on whether it be a Word document a PDF canvas page electronically pictures and do all these different things with the word going back so we talked about annotating taking photos and inserting in the documents into your canvas course it's a directly talk about anchor charts worked examples exemplars of student work that you want to put in there maybe it's a project that they're working on you can have the photos of those we have teachers that use sea salt as an online portfolio so as they're doing example maybe a sort or whatever it maybe you can do a video or a photo of that and then put it right into sea salt using the teacher iPad them anything you want I love Google Earth I think it's one of those ones that people forget that even exists out there but it's something that regardless of what content you teach you could tie it in language arts teacher if we're going to be doing like I remember we used to read the K lot of her kids have no idea where the K is and so we would pull it up on Google Earth to give them some of that background knowledge talks about in the book The bright colored homes we could go into Google Earth zoom in and see all those homes in and to see what the the setting of that story was really like and then talking about okay so there's a lot of water down there in the case and see when he got Shipwrecked what happened I'm so anything with language arts social studies obviously take them in their let them start them in Zionsville Indiana and then take them over to India and see how far away that really is at the beginning of the school year when you're getting to know the students a lot of extended family that live outside of the United States or they cells may have come from outside the United States or outside of Indiana have them show you where they are they come from especially if you have let them go in and show you how living in the mountains is different have them explain what are some of the difference they've noticed from Colorado versus Indiana in Google Earth you can actually go and and the surface of the Moon you can go actually Google Earth into the oceans and below the surface of the ocean to see some of those fault lines that are under our ocean and when you're talking about the ring of fire what is that look like and where is that located on the earth so I like using Google Earth a lot using authentic feedback because you can do inking we talked a little bit about and canvas I can go in and annotate right on top of their super work and speed greater one no app is another one that you can use that as well and new feature and I know that went to the canvas session earlier canvas just released to wear it now you and students can annotate right on top of a PDF which all of our teachers are like but now you can set it up in canvas to where you can annotate on top of that document and students can as well and then recording her lessons using an app like the Siri or just the camera one of the things post-pandemic a lot of our teachers who said you know what one thing is you if I've got a sick kid at home now I'm not going to the time it takes to do sub plans it's much easier for me to just join in Via teams video conferencing or adolescent put it in canvas so that they can they hear from me what the expectation is for Taste lessons is versus someone I don't know coming into trying to figure it out themselves and so you can use something like Siri are you can just you can use the camera roll on your iPad and record a lesson using the screen recording everything you're doing their upload it to Canvas and now it's accessible to them right inside the air or using team you could use it that way as well what what I want to do right now is take a couple minutes I just did a huge brain dump on iPads in the classroom what kind of discuss what are some ways that you could see using it with your current grade level and curriculum you have okay so maybe those of you that are online if you want to share inside the chat what are some ways that you have thought about using I put back up here on your iPad with your students as well computer sound when I did that little video is he sending this PowerPoint to you and you'll be able to see exactly what she had she is funny and she's on Tik-Tok I think she's on Instagram to your channel now iPads because everyone else has so already can you just run to the bathroom nice icera as far as PowerSchool there is a PowerSchool app it does not work well and so that's why we really don't ever promote them the PowerSchool app and sometimes it is zanesville's instance doesn't show up in there however if you download Google Chrome log into PowerSchool just like you would on your laptop using Google Chrome and it just won't be the app so if you need to take attendance and you want to be walking around taking attendance that way you could do that as well you just would want to make sure that you're not project just like you would protect your your laptop when you have a great book or anything like that pulled off iPads in math are awesome being able to annotate and do like those math equations you can zoom in zoom out if you need to graping is always great as well Odessa most definitely for math is a good one a couple more minutes and then we'll talk they're back together just kind of share I will if you'd like let you kind of share with the group hear some of your ideas just so they can hear since they're not on the line to see what chat the chat has said that's alright Sarah Stacy and Matthew they'll give them another two minutes by saying I was just telling them online I'm giving them two more minutes and then got real quiet so I'm like well maybe if we're okay sounds good we're okay to move on will go ahead and go so what are some ways that you discussed with your shoulder partners that you can see using your iPad in the classroom talking about English so I think on a very basic level stand-up not have to be right in front of my laptop almost like not even look better like these have to do with some Supernatural I think you touched on what I think is probably the most powerful aspect of having an iPad it as a teacher is the mobility I think gives you and you mentioned were talked about there is a disconnect when you're sitting in the back of the room behind the screen and and you're trying to talk over them and compete with their laptops or whatever fidget Spinners or whatever they cut next to them where is it I can be moving around the now and then just so many times as a teacher is that kid that's always really just being in proximity next thing where you can just kind of put your hand on their desk so that they know okay she's right here okay so I need to refocus and then keep going adolescent without having to keep running back and forth to the corner of your room to go to the next page on the slide or the pull up another document or to use the mouse to click on something now I now I am able to move anywhere around the room I can have my demonstrate using that same device without them going all the way back to the corner of my room as well great what are some other ways the intent of PowerPoints just the ability to not have to go back what about those of you that are online what are some things that you discussed how you could use your iPad with your students your aunt and you he'll have your cameras off are you going to share so used to this whole like no camera thing no I my teeth are so I have used the like the greater option in the teacher a ton giving kids be back like right away especially for the remote virtual kids last year to be able to do like drawing demonstrations project those that then also record those demonstrations and then put them on canvas I found this really helpful as well text Sarah I used the yes essay pulled up your name degrading it and you can just click on their name it pulls up all of their and now that's assuming that you everything's in canvas do you have some that are on campus or not but yes it's a quick way to quickly see the progress that they've done through campus through that course definitely am I correct in I'm sorry this is why we don't have access to that speed greater because we do standards-based grading is that different for us it's just that sync with like PowerSchool it's the canvas gradebook anything else Stacy you want to share with math well it's it's great with me so that you can show them exactly step-by-step tired and there's certain websites demonstrate things in it's been added lately yeah definitely what are there for those of you who have been using an iPad this last school year even before that are there any apps that I didn't this is one You definitely want to download or this is one that I use regularly I know Stacey mentioned Desmos for for Math teachers OneNote they have no definitely any other apps and we don't have any Elementary but I know a lot of our elementary teachers you see it's an app that they use regularly Andy can you think of any are there any apps that you used there's a GoNoodle app GoNoodle the Whiteboard that is part of teens there's a Whiteboard app that would still be accessible within their butt translate it's always a quick launch and didn't even have a folder coming out to see what apps that have those are makes me just because of somebody at the websites then we access on a regular basis that I can just pull up and scroll through click on Links of things your August but creating like groups in the Apple update before you to do on a desktop to report that initial Focus nearpod is a great application yeah if you know there is a cost to to nearpod is crackers in my thinking of the other one nearpods free pear deck dashboard to your iPad home screen today it's a Control Card login one of the teachers online and mention as they said asked about PowerSchool is there an app for PowerSchool there is but it's awful and so what we have best why we haven't we promoted it I found it works better is just using Google Chrome and logging into PowerSchool through the web browser cuz I thought it'd be really nice if I could just take attendance right for my iPad has classes beginning and you can't I would just use Google Chrome because I said the app they've had lots of issues with it and I don't know that they've updated it all how do you use the new Microsoft edge browser settings and passwords but all right with that I didn't really have anything beyond that Carly Andy and I myself were happy to come in and Mala lessons with you if you have true connecting your iPad with your laptop in your classrooms projected or if you just want some ideas for
