[Union_elementary] Fire Drill at Union

This morning at 9:05 we noticed an odd smell inside Union Elementary
School.  The art teacher had turned the kiln on so at first we thought
it might just be the odor of the kiln.  We had some concern because the
same odor (or a different odor * depending on whose nose you ask) was
noticed in the K-1 wing.  Just to be safe we followed our fire
evacuation procedures and emptied the building.  Two fire trucks from
Zionsville Fire Department and one from Carmel came within minutes.  Our
own maintenance employees came to investigate also. After forty minutes
of waiting outside on this perfectly beautiful day, we were given the
all clear to reenter the building.  You would be so proud of your
children.  They followed directions perfectly and displayed their
lifeskills of respect, responsibility, and perseverance.  A big thank
you to all staff members who all knew just what to do calmly and
efficiently.
